What if you wanted to take your family on a vacation but didn’t necessarily want to hit the slopes everyday? Are there ski holidays for you? Yes. There are many resorts that offer plenty of activities that don’t require skis, snowboards, or even snow for that matter.
All of these resorts provide both a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities besides snowboarding and skiing. These can include snowshoeing, sleigh riding, tubing, sledding, and horseback riding. Some even offer ice climbing for teens or hiking the nature trails. Or, you and your family can take time to have fun indoors. Maybe go to a great restaurant, have fun shopping, or relax in a hot tub, cozy up by a fire, or head into the spa for a massage. Remember to call ahead or visit a resort’s Web site to make reservations for childcare and ski lessons.
If you want to ski, many of the winter resorts offer ski school for parents and their kids. A few even do it for the whole family. If the school is too much, consider a private lesson. If you just want a night out alone, be sure to choose a place that offers childcare of care centers. You can even work through the hotel to choose babysitters that you know are safe and screened.
